About Outdoor Project Planner

Outdoor Project Planner is an independent material-planning project. It helps people estimate how much material a small outdoor project needs before they buy: pavers, gravel, mulch, fence-post concrete and raised-bed soil.

What the site does

Each planner lets you describe a project in several parts, shows every assumption it uses, and turns the result into one shopping list you can print, copy or download. Everything is calculated in your browser. There is no account and nothing to sign up for.

What the site is not

Outdoor Project Planner is not a contractor, an engineering service or a supplier. It does not sell materials, recommend products or check prices. It does not give structural, building-code, drainage or safety advice, and it does not recommend depths, spacing or designs. For those questions, follow the product manufacturer’s instructions and ask a qualified professional or your local authority.

How the calculations are checked

The formulas are checked with worked examples calculated by hand and with automated tests that run the same examples. The method is described on the How we calculate page. Results are still estimates: real quantities depend on the product and how it is installed.
